Challenge

The Mountainside Mine operation required a site based safety and health management system to be developed to support the corporate safety management plan and specifically address requirements of the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act and Regulation.

Omya Australia wanted a digital solution that enabled visibility across all levels including at the operation level and also by the management team. The solution also needed to manage contractors, inductions, verification of competency and plant and equipment maintenance.

Solution

Our online system GPlus Live was selected as the digital solution given the specific relevance to the industry and the knowledge and experience of the Construction Materials and Services Team.

An audit was conducted of the operations to assist in identifying the site’s requirements, processes and procedures to be incorporated and where further assistance was required.

Following development which included workshops with the site team and relevant stakeholders, the solution was deployed and supported by on the ground implementation and training.

Impact

The site now has a system which is used by all staff (including plant operators), data is kept up to date, easily accessible and visible to all key members of the team.

Notifications and analytics are available to the site to track the usage and implementation of the system and ensure it remains effective.
